Starbucks Restaurant - League City, TX
Installed January 2006

Product: Liquid Boot Gas Vapor Barrier Membrane/Geovent System

Contractor: L.S. Decker Company, Dallas, TX
George Carter – 214-358-3233

This 2,000 SF project was installed on a former gas station site. The location had been remediated and the soil had been replaced but there was still concern that residual petroleum product contamination could surface and contaminate the interior air quality of the restaurant.

Starbucks requested Liquid Boot as the gas vapor mitigation barrier/venting system. The contractor placed the Geovent around the perimeter of the slab area in a prescribed pattern to allow passive removal of gas vapors. The Geovent was connected with fittings at the grade beam to allow eventual connection with rooftop access and vapor relief.

Next, the contractor placed Liquid Boot G-1000 fabric on the compacted soil and detailed around plumbing penetrations with Liquid Boot Detailing Liquid. The entire surface including the area under the grade beams was then sprayed with Liquid Boot Membrane to a thickness of 100 mils. The pipe penetrations were sealed with additional sprayed membrane to complete the gas vapor seal. The concrete slab was then placed conventionally to complete this application.
